Battle of Bosworth Wines

Experience a unique tasting journey with winemaker Joch Bosworth on August 4th at 1pm in the stables, as part of the 2024 Fleurieu Food Festival. Compare older Bosworth wines with their current vintages and explore the  effects of ageing on three of our finest red wines.

Cut grass with a hint of passionfruit and a racy lemony finish, the BoB SB is a sophisticated Savvy just made for drinking as an aperitif or serving with creamy cheeses.

A delicious, complex and full-flavoured Chardonnay with nut, stone fruit and a hint of citrus on the nose and fin The Bosworth Chardonnay has a delicious citrus finish. A proper Chardonnay.

A slightly off-the-wall style from the Bosworth crew - a 'skinsy' white field blend (AKA a natural wine). Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and a lick of Muscat à Petit Grains were picked together and co-fermented on skins for about 5 days. On the nose citrus lemongrass and spice and on the palate riverstones and citrus with soft tannins.

Touriga is the anchor variety in traditional Portuguese ports, but here the Exile is a zippy medium weight style, with red fruit and black cherry on the palate. It finishes with great length too.

More than the sum of its parts, 'Heretic' is a super blend of ‘alternative’ varieties, bringing Iberian flavours and savoury goodness to the wine, with a soupcon of that McLaren Vale classic, Shiraz. A wine for all seasons, 'Heretic' has a cherry blossom nose with dark fruits on the soft, savoury palate. It finishes nice and tight and focused and has a lovely gravelly grainy structure and length.

Exile is a rare beast – a 100% McLaren Vale Pinot Noir. Treated gently in the vineyard and winery, it is made like a Beaujolais – it’s a light weight luncheon wine with red fruits and a hint of strawberries on the nose;  bright with a touch of spice.

‘Puritan’ is  young, fresh, unoaked and preservative free. We pick it young, ferment it in open vats and bottle it immediately once it has finished fermentation.  Puritan is fresh and juicy with notes of red and black berries. Vibrant and delicious.

This is the Bosworth anchor wine - rich and full, red and black fruits on the nose, savoury with delicious oak characters. Balanced, medium to full-bodied and classic McLaren Vale

A classic McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon with ripe tannins, blackcurrant and herbal notes on the nose, terrific length and structure and a balance; the fruit more than matches the fine tannin structure.
