Fermented in steel, then raised in old French for five months. Blue and black fruits and florals open, akin to the Heretic blend, but this leans in a little more, with some tarrier notes and a deeper smudge of dark fruits. It’s an engaging wine, with a dusting of herbs and a bright drive of acidity. For me, the blended wine takes the day, which is in line with touriga’s historic role. Nonetheless, it’s a welcome expression, and another signpost for the dynamic future of the grape in the region.

Battle of Bosworth 'Exile' Touriga Nacional 2023
Touriga is the anchor variety in traditional Portuguese ports, but here the Exile is a zippy medium weight style, with red fruit and black cherry on the palate. It finishes with great length too.
